Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps meets UK FCDO State Minister for Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, United Nations

London, Oct. 14 (BNA): The Arab Ambassadors Council received Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and United Nations at the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The meeting reviewed the current escalation between the Palestinian movement Hamas and the Israeli forces, and political courses of action.
Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps emphasised the importance of condemning all forms of violence, that result in the killing and targeting of civilians, which contradicts with international and humanitarian law.
He welcomed Lord Tariq's efforts towards deescalating the situation in the region.
The Arab ambassadors stressed the need to immediately stop the escalation, adhere to international law, and advance the efforts of the peace process through dialogue and negotiations.
The meeting emphasised the need to stop the escalation in the Gaza Strip, which undermines the two-state solution and the chances of achieving peace.
It also called for taking urgent measures to lift the siege on Gaza and allow safe humanitarian aid delivery, while urging restraint to avoid catastrophic humanitarian and security repercussions
Lord Tariq stressed the need for increased joint efforts to prevent escalation, ensure civilian safety, and facilitate humanitarian aid delivery to Palestinians in Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing.
The Ambassadors emphasised the importance of achieving a just peace that fulfills Palestinian people's legitimate rights, ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and establishing a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the borders of June 4, 1967.
They warned that a lack of prospects for a political solution could lead to despair, violence, extremism, tension, and a collapse in confidence in the peace process as a means of resolving the situation and maintaining regional security and stability.
