The FM Calls On The EU To Take A Clear Position Against The Siege Imposed On Gaza
Baghdad (NINA) - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, at the ministry’s headquarters.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, bilateral relations between Iraq and the European Union were discussed, and ways to expand economic partnership and cooperation in various fields. The most important regional events were also discussed, especially what is happening in occupied Palestine, as the minister affirmed Iraq’s firm position in standing up to deportation attempts in the Gaza Strip. He called on the European Union and European governments to take a clear stance against the siege imposed on Gaza and to help open Rafah crossing to send humanitarian support to the region, and to stand clearly against the policy of deporting the people of Gaza to Sinai in Egypt.
For his part, Ambassador Thomas Seiler expressed the European Union's desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq, and thanked the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen relations between the two sides. /End
