Iraq And Armenia Hold The Second Round Of Political Consultations In Yerevan

Baghdad /NINA/ -The second round of political consultations between Iraq and Armenia was held in the Armenian capital, Yerevan.

 

The Iraqi side was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Muhammad Hussein Muhammad Bahr al-Ulum, and on the Armenian side was Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, and the membership of the head of the Middle East and North Africa Department in the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arsene Arakelyan, the director of the Arabian Peninsula Department, Levon Petrosyan, and the second person in the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Baghdad Robin Sogohian.

 

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement: “Many topics of common interest were discussed, which would strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, unify regional and international positions, and mutual support between the two countries in international organizations.”

 

The statement added, "The two sides touched on the importance of the historic visit of President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid to Armenia, which is the first visit of an Iraqi president to Armenia, and the importance of exchanging official visits between the two countries."

 

The two sides stressed the importance of moving forward with the completion of the agreements and memorandums of understanding that are still under completion. The two sides also touched on the success of holding the meetings of the third session of the Iraqi-Armenian Joint Committee, which was held in Baghdad in September 2023, which resulted in the signing of the minutes of the joint committee, which dealt with all areas between the two countries. "

 

The two sides also stressed the importance of making preparations for the visit of members of the joint Iraqi-Armenian parliamentary committee on behalf of the Armenian side to Baghdad next year./ End
