Iraq Elected To Two Important Positions At The Executive Meeting Of The Asian Parliamentary Association
Baghdad / NINA /- Iraq was elected to the positions of Vice President of the Asian Parliamentary Association and Chairman of the Association's Permanent Political Committee during the participation of an Iraqi parliamentary delegation in the association's executive meeting in Turkey.
The House of Representatives stated in a statement, “The delegation of the Foreign Relations Committee, headed by MP, Jabbar Al-Kanani and the membership of MPs, Haider Al-Salami, Vian Sabri, Abbas Al-Jubouri, and Insajam Al-Gharawi, participated in the executive meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Association, which was held in Antalya, Turkey for the period from November 27-28."
It added, "During the first day's meetings, Azerbaijan was elected to the presidency of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly for the period 2024-2025, and Iraq was elected to the position of Vice-President of the Asian Assembly, in addition to being elected to the position of Chairman of the Permanent Political Committee in the Assembly."
The statement pointed out that "Bahrain was elected to chair the Economic Committee, Qatar was elected to chair the Budget and Planning Committee, and Russia was elected to chair the Social and Cultural Committee. The members of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly also voted to form a special permanent committee to support the Palestinian cause, headed by Palestine and with a membership of seven members, one of whom is Iraq," indicating that this came based on what was adopted at the meeting of the Permanent Political Committee in Baghdad, which was held on November 10-11, 2023, regarding the adoption of the resolution of firm support for the Palestinian people./End
