Congratulating Iraqis.. PM: Local Elections Are A Constitutional Entitlement Delayed More Than 10 Years
Baghdad / NINA/ -Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani blessed the Iraqi people with the launch of the provincial council elections, stressing that they are: “a constitutional entitlement delayed more than 10 years.”
Al-Sudani said in a press statement, after casting his vote at the electoral center in Al-Watan School in Al-Karkh, in the first hour of the start of the governorate council elections: “The governorate council elections represent an important pillar for implementing administrative decentralization and representing the people of the governorates in local governments,” indicating: “The governorates are councils and a governor.” explained "they are onsidered a second pillar of the state and assists the federal government in implementing its executive program.”
Al-Sudani called on citizens to actively participate in choosing the most qualified and fittest person to represent the governorates and perform their duties within the law and the constitution.
He pointed out: "The government has accomplished its work in preparing for the elections, which is part of its duties towards enhancing political stability. The government has completed all logistical and security requirements for holding the elections."
Al-Sudani praised the exceptional efforts of the security services in securing the elections and providing a healthy atmosphere for the political forces and candidates, during the electoral campaign and up to this day, expressing his thanks to all the media that accompanied the electoral process and its components at every station.
He continued: “The Election Commission made great efforts to fulfill all the requirements for the elections, and we trust its procedures that are in accordance with the law.”/End
