Sixth Meeting Of The Political Committee Between Iraq And Iran
Baghdad (NINA) - The sixth meeting of the joint political committee between Iraq and Iran was held yesterday evening, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Hussein Bahr al-Ulum and his Iranian counterpart for political affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani.
In this meeting, which was held in Tehran, according to the IRNA, Ali Bagheri described the Iranian-Iraqi relations as “ideal,” and praised the “rich and peace-making culture of the Arbaeen March, hosted by the government and people of Iraq,” stressing the historical responsibility of the two countries to support Islamic world unity and stability in the West Asia region.
The Iranian Political Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs called for "double seriousness in advancing joint projects and achieving tangible areas of synergy in the economic field."
For his part, Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Ulum, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed the necessity of continuing cooperation and dialogue between the two countries with the aim of economic and social development and supporting the security of the region.
The two sides affirmed their support for the Palestinian people and Gaza, and stressed the need to strengthen diplomatic and international efforts to confront Israel's actions in Gaza.
They also stressed the necessity of unity in the Islamic world to confront the Zionist occupation of Palestine, which has been ongoing for 75 years.
The Iraqi and Iranian sides continued to discuss security and consular issues, and in conclusion, they emphasized the rapid and complete implementation of existing agreements. /End
