Baghdad / NINA / -Today, Wednesday, Pope Francis condemned the Iranian missile attack on the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq, noting that good relations between neighbors do not involve such actions.
The Pope said in the weekly meeting at the Vatican: “My condolences and solidarity with the victims, all of whom were civilians, of the missile attack that struck an urban area in Erbil, the capital of the autonomous Iraqi Kurdish region.”
He added, "Good relations between neighbors do not involve such actions, but rather dialogue and cooperation," calling on everyone to "avoid any step that inflames tensions in the Middle East and other scenarios of war."
Pope Francis called for prayers for “the many victims of war,” referring specifically to Ukraine, Gaza and the Palestinian territories./End
