Al-Mandalawi And His Turkish Counterpart Discuss The Stages Of “Development Road” Project And Stress Its Importance For The Two Countries And The Region

Baghdad / NINA / -The President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, discussed with the Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, the stages of completion of the “Development Road” project.

The media office of the Speaker of Parliament stated: “Today, Al-Mandalawi met with the Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, on the sidelines of participation in the 14th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, held in Baku.”

The two sides agreed to activate the work of the joint committees concerned with dealing with the water file, in a way that ensures an increase in Iraq’s share, so that it is fair and sufficient to cover the country’s actual need, in addition to discussing the files of security, border control, and stimulating investment, in addition to discussing the development road project, the achievements achieved in it, and its importance to the two countries, as it represents a link between the East and the West.

Al-Mandalawi affirmed his rejection of the repeated attacks on Iraqi lands, and their impact on the future of relations between the two countries and the two neighboring peoples. He called for cooperation to achieve stability in the region, and coordination of positions between the two parliaments in regional and international forums, especially towards crucial issues, most notably the Palestinian one, and files of common concern. /End
