G8 states urge North Korea to abandon nuclear programs
TRIESTE (Italy), June 26 (Itar-Tass) -- The G8 states urged North
Korea to fulfill all liabilities stipulated in the UN Security Council
resolutions, abandon its nuclear programs and to stop launches of
ballistic missiles that affect international security, the G8 foreign
ministers said in a final statement here on Friday.
The G8 states denounced a nuclear test, which North Korea conducted on
May 25 that violates UN Security Council Resolution 1718, and the launch
of a ballistic missile on April 5 that poses a threat to peace and
stability in the region.
The G8 states welcome UN Security Council Resolution 1874 and urge the
international community to fulfill all liabilities under this document,
including a warning for possible deliveries of nuclear materials in and
from North Korea, the final statement runs.
