Greenhouse Vegetable Production Increased in DPRK

 Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- North Phyongan Province of the DPRK has made achievements in scientific production of greenhouse vegetables.
Yomju County built a new hydroponic greenhouse and introduced a cylindrical vegetable cultivation device and a plug seedling method to increase the variety of cultivating vegetables while applying high-yielding varieties.
Thaechon County renovated more than 10 greenhouses and has organized technical workshop and show on a regular basis to help the farmers acquire advanced cultivation techniques and methods.
Similar successes were witnessed at the vegetable greenhouses in Jongju City and Ryongchon and Pakchon counties. They are increasing the production of various kinds of foliar and fruit vegetables.
Vegetable greenhouses in Kusong City and Kwaksan and Unjon counties have conducted leaf fertilizing and agricultural chemicals spraying according to steps to hasten the growth period of vegetable crops of different species while taking preventive measures against damage by harmful insects.
Many farms in the province introduced various kinds of growth promoters and a phased cultivation method in producing lettuce, red pepper and spinach. -0-
