Efforts Concentrated on Shallow-sea Culture

Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the fishing sector are directing efforts to aquaculture.
The Pupho Offshore Farm opened up a prospect for fully ensuring the increased production of kelp by providing favorable conditions for its growth. It is now raising the per-area output while exploring and introducing advanced cultivation methods.
The Kumipho Fishery Station has increased the kelp production against the same period of last year by applying scientific cultivation methods.
The Ongjin Offshore Farm has carried out its daily production plan of seaweeds by making effective use of the existing production foundation while rationally allocating manpower and shortening the working time.
The Wonsan Seafood Production and Processing Station has improved the breeding method on the basis of advanced science and technology, thus raising the per-hectare yield of mussel. -0-
