OSCE PA meets in Lithuania on new security challenges
VILNIUS, June 29 (Itar-Tass) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe begins its annual
session in Lithuania to address new security challenges.
Over 380 parliamentarians from 56 member-states will gather for the
first time in a Baltic country.
The Russian delegation will be represented by the deputy head of the
State Duma international affairs committee, Alexander Kozlovsky.
The head of Lithuania's OSCE PA Delegation, Vilija Aleknaite
Abramikiene, told journalists earlier Vilnius drafted an energy security
resolution for the session.
"We submit the resolution on our behalf and hope that it will receive
enough votes to go to the General Committee on Political Affairs and
Security," she said.
Ukraine called for discussing a resolution on the OSCE's role in
strengthening security in certain regions at the upcoming session, while
Britain - on protection of freedom of expression.
Aleknaite Abramikiene supposed that the debates will also focus on
problems of the South Caucasus.
