Anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's Field Guidance to Chongjin Port Marked
Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place on June 12 to mark the 50th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's field guidance to Chongjin Port.
Kwon Jung Hak, port manager, made a report at the meeting.
He referred to the fact that the President gave field guidance to Chongjin Port in June Juche 63 (1974) to give instructions on the issues arising in the building and management of the port.
He noted that Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Chongjin Port to give precious instructions for the development of the port and guided it take the lead in implementing the policies of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The WPK clarified in detail the issues arising in developing the country's maritime transport and modernizing the ports, including the issue of building up the ports and improving their management and operation, the reporter said.
He said that over the past 50 years, the port has arranged enough equipment and vehicles and specialized the handling of freight and mechanized the shipping and unloading operations, thus remarkably increasing the cargo traffic and storing capacity and over-fulfilling the national economic plan every year.
