Malaysia’s UniMAP Signs MoA, MoU With Two South Korean Universities
KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia), July 11 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP, a Malaysian public university) signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two South Korean universities recently.
Its vice-chancellor Prof Dr Zaliman Sauli said the university signed an MoA with Pukyong National University (PKNU) and an MoU with Dong-Eui University (DEU), both located in South Korea’s Busan.
“The UniMAP-PKNU collaboration allows the implementation of dual degrees for first degrees and doctorates through research modes as an effort to strengthen the country’s higher education.
“PKNU was established in 1996 with expertise in marine science as well as engineering and technology,” he said in a statement Thursday.
Zaliman represented UniMAP in the signing of the MoA and MoU while PKNU was represented by its vice-president Prof Dr Youngbok Kim while DEU International Relations Dean Dr Gumkwang Bae signed on behalf of DEU.
Zaliman added that the MoU with DEU would strengthen cooperation between both universities that began in 2018 through the UniMAP Korean University Student Travel Programme (UniKU) programme, an international student mobility programme involving the exchange of languages and culture.
This year, 24 UniMAP students will participate in the programme for three weeks in August.
“Therefore the ties strengthened through this MoU are hoped to boost other academic and international mobility programmes that can impact both universities,” he said.
