Progress Made in Salt Industry

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The salt industry of the DPRK has striven to revitalize the production and step up the readjustment and reinforcement project.
The salt-making machine repair plant fulfilled its yearly economic plan. It introduced a new dust arrester into the cupola furnace and further perfected the streamlined process through a mass technical innovation movement to increase the productivity, thus producing more than 1 000 high-performance water pumps in the first half of this year.
The workers of the Unha Salt Works carried out their first half-yearly plan at 118 percent with the help of science and technology. They manufactured equipment for removing sphagnum from salt fields to raise the proportion of mechanization in the work and took a rainwater-proof measure in tens of water tanks, thus putting production on a normal basis even in the rainy season.
The Kwangryangman Salt Works introduced a technology for raising the density of salt water and minimized the loss of salt water, thus making progress in consolidating the production foundation.
Such progress has been made at Nampho and Kumsong salt works, too. -0-
