State Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred on Intellectuals in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Academic degrees and titles were conferred on intellectuals on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
Those intellectuals have made valuable achievements substantially conducive to the economic development of the country and the stable improvement of people's living standards.
The title of candidate academician was awarded to Sin Kyong Ho, rector of Phyongsong University of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, under a decision of the State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles.
Professorship was conferred on Ju Il Ung, a teacher of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Hyon Sang, director of an institute, and Sin Myong Guk, a teacher of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Yun Song, dean of a faculty of  Kim Chaek University of Technology, Choe Il Su, a teacher of  University of Sciences, Ri Yong Chol, head of a department of Hamhung University of Hydraulic Engineering, and Kim Hyok, director of an institute of the State Academy of Sciences.
Doctorate went to 74 persons including Kim Ung Gol, a teacher, and Wi Kum Chol, a researcher of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Kyong Chol, head of a department, and Ri Song Jun, deputy section chief of Kim Il Sung University, Pae Kyong Ho, section chief of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Hyon Chol, dean of a faculty, and Ri Jong Nam, head of a department of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education.
And 149 persons were awarded the title of associate professor and 1 221 the master's degrees. -0-
