KFSHRC Elevates Saudi Arabia's Global Medical Standing by Providing Care for Patients from 17 Countries

Riyadh, October 22, 2024, SPA -- The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) has emphasized that as the Kingdom's healthcare sector solidifies its position as a distinguished hub for advanced medical treatments, the KFSHRC stands at the forefront of transitioning from provider of outbound medical tourism to attracting 5% of global patients seeking treatment abroad by providing high-quality specialized medical services regionally and internationally.
In a press release, the KFSHRC said it has become "a premier destination" for international patients seeking specialized care through its medical innovations, cutting-edge technologies, and expertise in rare medical specialties. It added that the KFSHRC has grown into a significant global healthcare hub, treating patients from 17 countries in 2024, with a majority of 77% from other Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The hospital's use of advanced medical technologies and top-tier services make it an attractive choice for international patients seeking precise diagnoses and innovative treatments in various specialties offered by its Centers of Excellence.
The KFSHRC, a Platinum Sponsor at the Global Health Exhibition that commenced yesterday in Riyadh, is showcasing its International Patient Care Center's journey, which covers initial communication, assesses medical diagnosis, manages travel and accommodation in Riyadh, progresses through treatment, and ends with post-treatment evaluations and follow-up consultations. The process ensures that international visitors receive thorough care and access to the latest treatments and medical expertise.
Moreover, the KFSHRC houses several Centers of Excellence, such as the Heart Center, which is globally renowned for pediatric cardiac surgeries and advanced robotic surgeries. Additionally, the Organ Transplant Center pioneered significant innovations in transplantation practices and is known for achieving some of the highest survival rates globally. Last year, 20% of KFSHRC’s international patients sought treatment at this center.
Among the Centers of Excellence serving international patients is the Oncology Center, providing care for 37% of KFSHRC’s global patients. These patients benefit from novel treatments such as CAR-T cell therapy, advanced radiation therapy, and the pioneering use of 3D printing technologies to enhance the patient experience and alleviate radiation therapy side effects. The Neuroscience Center, the region's largest, treats around 30% of the hospital’s international patients, offering specialized procedures like epilepsy surgeries, tumor removal, and brain stimulation therapies. Furthermore, the Genomic Medicine Center offers advanced genetic testing and tailored consultations to international patients.
