Qingdao, Oct. 25 (BNA): Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, met with Zhang Jianhua, Director of China’s National Energy Administration, in Qingdao, China, during  the third Belt and Road Energy Ministers’ Conference, held from October 23 to 24.

The minister highlighted the importance of this conference amidst the global shift toward renewable energy. He emphasised the need for stronger international cooperation to ensure secure and sustainable energy supplies, alongside efforts to diversify renewable energy supply chains and encourage investment.

Humaidan also noted Bahrain’s national strategies aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 and achieving net zero by 2060. He emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing ties with China, especially in renewable energy, referencing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s state visit to China in May, which resulted in ten agreements and memoranda of understanding in various sectors.

Both parties explored ways to enhance collaboration and share expertise in renewable energy, as well as other areas of shared interest in electricity, water, and sustainable energy.
