Bahrain's Paralympic Athletics Team opens medal count with two golds at the ISF Gymnasiade

Manama, Oct. 25 (BNA): Bahrain's Paralympic athletics team made a strong start at the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, securing two gold medals, a silver, and two bronze on the first day of athletics competitions. Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the international event runs until October 31 at the Bahrain National Stadium.


 

Basma Hajoo won gold in the club throw, with Mohammed Al Madhahi also securing gold in the same event. Ali Al Saghir won silver in club throw, Fatima Al Sayed took won in the 100 metre, and Basma Hajoo added another bronze in shot put.


 

The day featured multiple qualifying rounds, including discus throw, shot put, triple jump, high jump, and races of 100, 400, and 800 metres for boys and girls, as well as the 2,000 metre steeplechase, which added excitement to the event.


 

Paralympic athletics and athletics events continue tomorrow, with final rounds providing further opportunities for Bahrain’s athletes to secure medals and elevate the Kingdom’s standing in this international event.
