Iraq, Qatar Agree To Draft MoU For Joint Military Cooperation

Baghdad /NINA/- Iraq and Qatar agreed to prepare a draft memorandum of understanding for joint military cooperation.

The Ministry of Defense stated in a statement: "Within the framework of joint regional cooperation between Iraq and neighboring countries, the Minister of Defense arrived in the State of Qatar at the head of a high-level security delegation."

The Minister of Defense and his Qatari counterpart discussed, at the Qatari Ministry of Defense, the joint bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.

A number of topics were raised, most notably developments in the regional security situation and developments in the region.

The two sides also discussed a mechanism for joint military training and exercises between the Iraqi and Qatari forces, in addition to discussing the issue of sending wounded heroes of the Iraqi army for treatment in Qatari hospitals.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to prepare a draft memorandum of understanding for joint military cooperation between Iraq and Qatar./End
