Iraq, Azerbaijani Stresses The Importance Of Activating Int'l Cooperation Mechanisms To Combat Climate Change
Baghdad / NINA / -President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met today, Monday, at the headquarters of the United Nations Climate Conference COP 29 in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, with Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydar Aliyev.
During the meeting, according to a presidential statement, the nature of the close relations between Iraq and Azerbaijan at various levels were discussed, as the President of the Republic stressed the importance of expanding the horizons of joint cooperation to include the fields of economy, industry, investment, tourism, environment and energy in a way that serves the interests of the two countries.
The axes that will be discussed during the United Nations Climate Conference COP 29 were also discussed.
The President of the Republic pointed to the importance of activating the mechanisms of bilateral and international cooperation and coordination in the field of combating climate changes facing the world and reducing their severity.
The meeting addressed a number of regional and global issues, and the two sides stressed the need to intensify international efforts to confront current challenges and work to end them, in a way that consolidates the foundations of international peace and security.
For his part, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his thanks to the President for his visit to Azerbaijan and participation in the conference, stressing his country's keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq in various fields.
President Rashid arrived this morning in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, at the head of a government delegation, in response to an official invitation from President Aliyev to participate in the United Nations Climate Summit (COP29)./End
