Saudi Reef Organizes International Training Program to Boost Agricultural Expertise in Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, November 17, 2024, SPA -- The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) has organized an international training program in the Kingdom of Morocco for a delegation of Saudi agricultural extension specialists, to help them develop their skills and get familiarized with the latest technologies in agricultural extension.
As part of the program, the delegation visited the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), which works, in cooperation with local and international institutions, to boost agricultural production and enhance food security, as well as to help farmers deal with climate challenges.
ICARDA's officials gave the delegation an overview of the center's departments, including crop diseases and control, seed inspection and testing, entomology and agricultural pests, and the seed bank, which preserves different types of seeds to support research and maintain biodiversity.
The delegation also visited the National Office of Agricultural Consulting, a public institution dedicated to delivering extension services to farmers in Morocco. This office promotes the adoption of modern agricultural technologies and supports sustainable farming practices to foster rural development.
They also toured the National School of Agriculture, a prominent educational institution specializing in agricultural sciences, which focuses on training agricultural engineers, thus enabling them to significantly contribute to the advancement of the agricultural sector in Morocco. The delegation visited other institutions as well, and gained insight into innovative practices in the field.
Saudi Reef has recently launched an international training initiative designed to enrich the skills of Saudi farmers and familiarize them with modern farming techniques in various agricultural sectors, helping them to improve productivity and attain sustainability in their practices.
