Baghdad /NINA/- National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji stressed the importance of the ceasefire in Lebanon in promoting peace and security in the region.

The Chancellery said in a statement: "Al-Araji met in his office today with the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, on the occasion of the end of her tenure as US Ambassador to Iraq."

Al-Araji reviewed with the US Ambassador the latest developments in the region and the decision to cease fire in Lebanon, and its importance in promoting peace and security in the region.

He reiterated Iraq's firm position on the events in the region and the importance of adopting dialogue and diplomacy as an alternative to escalation and conflicts, in a way that consolidates peace and enhances security in the region and the world.
