Saudi Communications Minister Meets with Uzbek Counterpart, Signs Partnership Agreement

Riyadh, December 18, 2024, SPA -- Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha has met with Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov to discuss expanding partnership opportunities in telecommunications and modern technologies and to empower entrepreneurs and support innovation for sustainable digital economic growth.
   Following their meeting during the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), a strategic agreement was signed to enhance collaboration and exchange expertise in telecommunications and information technology.
   The agreement aims to strengthen the two nations' collaboration in technology and digital transformation, fostering economic growth while facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, fifth—and sixth-generation technologies, cloud computing, data centers, and tech entrepreneurship.
   It also seeks to promote digital investments and share policies and practices for developing digital skills. Furthermore, the agreement outlines initiatives to encourage national companies to set up their regional headquarters in Uzbekistan, partnering with technology and innovation hubs to deliver high-quality services in the telecommunications and IT sectors.
