Bahrain participates in third consultative meeting on enhancing coordination of peace initiatives in Sudan
Nouakchott, Dec. 19 (BNA): As part of Bahrain's presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit, the Kingdom’s delegation, led by Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the third consultative meeting on enhancing the coordination of peace initiatives and efforts in Sudan.
The meeting, held in Mauritania, was attended by representatives of several countries and international and regional organisations addressing the situation in the Republic of Sudan.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali emphasised Bahrain's support for diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to uphold the "Jeddah Declaration" principles, including protecting civilians in Sudan, resolving the conflict, and ending the war through dialogue and peaceful means.
He also underscored the importance of ensuring the full, swift, safe, and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid, in line with the principles of international humanitarian law and human rights law.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali reiterated Bahrain's call for the international community to stand by the Sudanese people and provide necessary support to humanitarian organisations operating within Sudan.
He also stressed the importance of supporting economic and infrastructure initiatives to rebuild Sudan and achieve lasting stability.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Tarifi, Chief of Arab and African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
