titanium and the American Boeing aircraft building company are to put UBM
into operation to machine titanium articles for the Boeing-787 Dreamliner.
An agreement on the establishment of UBM, with aggregate investments
amounting to $70 million, on the basis of VSMPO facilities in the Urals
was signed in August 2007. It provided for equipment's coming into
operation in 2008. The UBM will machine titanium stampings for use in the
production of the Boeing-787 Dreamliner.
Fitted out with the most up-to-date hi-tech equipment, the UBM will
carry out primary machining of titanium stampings supplied from the
VSMPO-Avisma titanium producing plant located in direct proximity to the
UBM. The resultant titanium chips will be iimediately sent to the
VSMPO-Avisma for processing, which will make it possible to create a
unique technological circuit of closed cycle. The end product will be
used in the manufacture of the Boeing-787 Dreamliner and Russian airliners.
The JV is to attain its rated capacity by 2010.
The VSMPO-Avisma is the world's major producer of titanium articles
with a vertically integrated technological process. In 2005, VSMPO had
purchased the Avisma Company, the world's largest producer of sponge
titanium that is used as the main component in the smelting of titanium
alloys.
Since 1997 the VSMPO-Avisma Corporation has been supplying about 25
percent of titatnium used by the Boeing Company for the manufacture of
civil airliners.
The Boeing is one of the leaders on the market of aerospace
technologies and one of US major exporters from the viewpoint of sales,
supplying its output to customers from more than 90 countries. Boeing
airliners are used by the leading Russian air companies.

the export of Russian intellectual services. In 1992 in Moscow, the
Company opened its science and technology center, through which Russian
research centers and companies fill orders in the field of civil avition.
The Boeing design center (BDC) has been in operation in Moscow since

with the Rosaviacosmos and another one with the United Aircraftbuilding
Corporation.
Over the period from 1993 to 2009, the Boeing has implemented
contracts in Russia to the tune of over $ 5,000 million. In the coming 30
years the Boeing intends to invest another $27,000 million.
