HM King receives national football team on occasion of winning 26th Arabian Gulf Cup title
Manama, Jan. 5 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received the players of the Bahrain national football team and its administrative and technical staff at a celebration held at the Bahrain National Stadium. The reception marked their victory as champions of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup, which was hosted by the State of Kuwait, which marks the second time in Bahraini football history.
The reception was attended by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
The team players and members of the administrative and technical staff had the honour of greeting His Majesty the King. The celebration then began, followed by a commemorative photo of His Majesty with the team players. The celebration included a fireworks display for the occasion.
His Majesty expressed immense joy in receiving the national team champions and their administrative and technical staff following this historic achievement.
His Majesty emphasised that this achievement by our national team represents an important step towards a promising future for Bahraini football. His Majesty the King praised the determination and resolve shown by the players, and the outstanding performance they displayed throughout the tournament. His Majesty commended the technical skills and high competitive abilities they demonstrated, which led them to achieve this title with merit and deservedness.
His Majesty congratulated all the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Bahraini fans who have supported and backed the team since the beginning of the tournament, setting the finest examples of love and devotion for Bahrain.
His Majesty the King highly valued the distinguished organisation of this edition of the tournament, praising the prominent role played by the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people, in the success of this Gulf sporting event and enhancing it as a model to be emulated in hosting sporting events and further consolidating the strong bonds that unite all the people of the Arabian Gulf.
His Majesty praised the sportsmanship demonstrated by the participating Gulf teams in the tournament, as well as the competitiveness and high skill they delivered.
The champions of the Bahrain National Team expressed their deep gratitude to His Majesty the King for the grand reception. They highlighted that His Majesty's support and guidance were key in securing the title.
