PM Begins Official Visit To The United Kingdom Today

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani begins an official visit to the United Kingdom this Monday afternoon, in response to an official invitation from the British Prime Minister.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office stated: "Al-Sudani will hold a series of meetings, most notably the meeting with King Charles III of the United Kingdom, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in addition to meeting with a number of senior officials in the British government. He will also hold meetings with representatives of companies and the business sector, and hold seminars and dialogues with specialized research centers."

It added: "The Prime Minister's visit comes within the framework of enhancing the prospects of cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom, as it will witness the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding in various tracks, especially in the economic, investment and security fields."

Al-Sudani is accompanied on his official visit to the United Kingdom by a high-ranking delegation that includes a number of ministers, members of the House of Representatives, the Governor of Basra, and a number of advisors, in addition to representatives of the private sector, businessmen and industrialists specialized in various economic sectors. 

Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed: "The visit to London reflects the Iraqi government's commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Iraq and the United Kingdom." 

Al-Sudani said in press statements: "The partnership with the United Kingdom is deeply rooted in history, and we aspire to broader horizons for economic, commercial and cultural cooperation."

He added: "The relationship between Iraq and the United Kingdom has witnessed major transformations over the past decades, and today, with our country achieving higher levels of security and stability, it is time to move to a new phase of sustainable economic partnership. This partnership aims to contribute to the development of Iraq and diversify its sources of income while providing expanded opportunities for the United Kingdom in a promising market with great human and economic potential." 

The Prime Minister pointed out: "The visit comes amid unprecedented and escalating events in the Middle East, which not only threaten the region but also threaten wider conflicts," indicating: "The meeting with King Charles III has great symbolic importance because it confirms the enduring historical relations between our two countries." / End
