Iraq and Russia Discuss Holding a Joint Committee Meeting This Month

Baghdad /NINA/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with the Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and African Countries, Undersecretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mikhail Bogdanov, today, Wednesday, holding a meeting of the Joint Committee during the current month.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: "Hussein met today with Bogdanov in the presence of the First Deputy Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Maxim Maximov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev, the Special Representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian Army General Sergey Afanasyev, the Chairman and Director General of the Russian Gazprom Neft Company Alexander Dyukov, and the Deputy Chairman and Director General of the Russian Gazprom Neft Company Anton Galabov."
It added that "the meeting discussed relations between Iraq and Russia, focusing on the high level of understanding between the foreign ministries in Baghdad and Moscow."
It stressed that "the meeting highlighted the importance of holding a meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee during the current month, and the need to discuss economic aspects between the two countries within the work of the committee, especially with regard to Russian oil companies operating in Iraq and ways to develop their work."
It pointed out that "the meeting witnessed praise for the in-depth political dialogue between the two countries and the understandings regarding the events taking place in the region, in addition to emphasizing the importance of following up on the implementation of the agreements and memoranda of understanding that were signed during the Iraqi Prime Minister's recent visit to Moscow."/End
