House Speaker Discusses Change in Syria and Regional Challenges with Russian Delegation

Baghdad /NINA/ -Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani discussed, on Wednesday, developments in the region and the change in Syria, with the Special Envoy of the Russian President Mikhail Bogdanov.
The media office of the Speaker of Parliament stated in a statement that "Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani received today, Wednesday, a high-level Russian delegation headed by the Special Envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov, accompanied by the Russian Ambassador to Baghdad and a number of officials."
It added that "the meeting discussed common issues between the two countries in political and economic files in the field of oil, gas and energy, developments in the region and ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries."
The statement continued, "The two sides discussed the change that occurred in Syria and the challenges facing the region, in addition to files related to Iraqi affairs, including the file of Iraqi students present in Russia and ways to enhance economic agreements between the two countries."
It explained that "the Speaker of the House of Representatives expressed his vision on the situation in Syria," stressing that "Iraq supports the unity of its brother neighbor and respects the choices of the Syrian people, and does not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of any country." pointed out that "Al-Mashhadani listened to Russia's vision on the situation in the region in general and what can be offered to Iraq in economic files and technological expertise." / End
