Speaker underscores importance of enhancing Bahrain-Türkiye parliamentary cooperation

Ankara, Feb. 9 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, underscored the importance of implementing new and advanced mechanisms to enhance parliamentary diplomacy with legislative councils, strengthening bilateral relations, common interests, and achieving the desired goals and aspirations.

The Speaker highlighted that Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy is built on solid foundations under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

This is achieved through upholding the values and principles of moderation, balance, and openness, supporting efforts for peace, security, coexistence, and tolerance, and developing cooperation with countries in all domains and levels, Al Musallam added.

The Speaker commended the high-level parliamentary outcomes achieved during the visit to Türkiye, undertaken in response to the gracious invitation of Numan Kurtulmuş, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

The parliamentary visit to Türkiye included a parliamentary discussion session with the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and the signing of a cooperation protocol between the two sides.

The agreement includes cooperation between members and the General Secretariat, sharing expertise and experiences, strengthening information and research collaboration, and enhancing parliamentary diplomacy. It also aims to advance bilateral cooperation. The visit covered Turkish parliamentary procedures, meetings with officials, and visits to research and cultural centres.

Bahrain-Türkiye parliamentary relations are strengthening through ongoing cooperation and coordinated positions in regional and international forums. These efforts also boost collaboration across sectors, encourage private sector investment, and expand trade, cultural, and tourism exchange.
