FM And His Azerbaijani Counterpart Discuss Reactivating The Flight Line Between Baghdad And Baku

Baghdad /NINA/ -Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart, today, Saturday, the reactivation of the flight line between Baghdad and Baku, while calling on Azerbaijani companies specialized in the field of oil and gas to invest in Iraq.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry stated that "Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the German city of Munich." 

The statement stressed that "the two sides praised the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries," stressing "the cultural commonalities that contribute to enhancing cooperation in various fields." 

Hussein called for "reactivating the flight line between Baghdad and Baku, and establishing a new air line between Baku and Erbil, with the aim of strengthening economic relations, especially in the tourism sector." 

The Foreign Minister extended "an invitation to Azerbaijani companies specialized in the field of oil and gas to invest in Iraq," noting that "there are many promising opportunities in this sector." 

 For his part, the Azerbaijani Minister inquired about "the investment opportunities available in Iraq", stressing "the possibility of discussing this file extensively during his upcoming visit to Baghdad. The meeting also touched on the events of the Munich Security Conference". The statement concluded that the Foreign Minister extended "an official invitation to his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Iraq and discuss investment opportunities and strengthen economic relations between the two countries", and the Azerbaijani Minister welcomed the invitation, noting that he "will likely work to fulfill it after the month of Ramadan". / End
