FM discusses with UN envoy to Syria developments in Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Iraq

Baghdad /NINA/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with the UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen the developments of the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Iraq.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "The Minister of Foreign Affairs met Pedersen on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany. During the meeting, the latest developments in Syria, the progress of the political process there, and the efforts made to achieve stability were discussed." 

According to the statement, the minister expressed Iraq's vision regarding the ongoing developments in Syria, stressing their direct repercussions on security and stability in Iraq and the region.

Hussein also stressed Iraq's firm position towards the Syrian crisis, which is represented in respecting the will of the Syrian people and the necessity of ensuring the participation of all its spectrums in the political process without excluding or marginalizing any party.

According to the statement, the minister renewed Iraq's call to the international community to intensify efforts to support Syria in achieving stability and enhancing community security. / End
