Iraq, Iran Agree To Expand Electronic Data Transfer Mechanism For Visitors And Goods

Baghdad /NINA/ -The Chairman of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waili, agreed today, Wednesday, with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq, Muhammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, to expand the mechanism for transferring electronic data for visitors on major religious occasions, as well as transferring goods data electronically to simplify and tighten control over procedures.
The Authority stated in a statement that "the Chairman of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Adnan Al-Waili, met in his office with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq, Muhammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, where the meeting included discussing the reality of the border ports between the two countries."
It added that "during the meeting, it was agreed to expand the mechanism for transferring electronic data regarding visitors on major religious occasions, as well as transferring goods data electronically in order to simplify and tighten control over procedures."
It added that "the two sides agreed to continue meetings between the specialized engineering cadres at the ports of Iraq and Iran, to determine the locations of the new gates for the ports between the two sides," noting that "the agreement also reached on continuous communication through official points of contact between the ports to confront any delays or obstacles that may arise during the course of work and take immediate measures to address them."
Al-Waili referred, according to the statement, to "the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and his continuous follow-up and support for the procedures for developing and rehabilitating the border ports with the Islamic Republic."
For his part, Ambassador Al-Sadiq praised "the efforts and role of the Border Ports Authority and its field follow-up of the work of the ports, which was positively reflected in the performance of the departments working at the ports," stressing "the need for integration and coordination to serve the movement of travelers and shipments and ensure their entry with all smoothness."
He pointed to "the importance of continuing joint consultation to maintain the successes achieved in the work between the two sides." / End
