Bahrain’s MP Qarata elected as Arab Parliament Finance Committee Coordinator

Cairo, Feb. 23 (BNA): MP Ahmed Abdulwahed Qarata, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and representative of the Executive Committee of Bahrain in the Arab Parliament, has been elected by the Arab Parliament as Coordinator of the Finance Committee tasked with reviewing the Parliament’s budget.

The committee worked on reviewing the Arab Parliament’s budget, studying the possibility of transferring funds to a country with economic stability to ensure their efficient management and reconsidering the current method of budget preparation to improve spending efficiency and enhance the optimal use of the Union’s financial resources.

On his part, MP Qarata presented the report submitted by the parliamentary division on developing the Arab Parliament’s budget, explaining the most important mechanisms, data, and detailed templates, and comparing the key materials governing the parliament's work that were reviewed regarding the budget.

The committee approved the proposed concept and templates in preparation for their presentation at the thirty-seventh extraordinary session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliament. A financial and legal working group will later be formed to develop a reform plan, in readiness for a special meeting of Arab parliament speakers to approve the new working mechanisms.
