Gulf legislative councils hold coordination meeting on Arab Parliamentary Union sidelines

Cairo, Feb. 23 (BNA): A parliamentary delegation, led by Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, participated in the Coordination Meeting of the Gulf Legislative Councils, held on the sidelines of the Executive Committee meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU).

 

The session was chaired by Sultan Salem Al Zuaabi, a member of the UAE Federal National Council (FNC).

 

The agenda focused on aligning Gulf positions and perspectives on Arab, regional, and international issues, particularly policies and stances on ongoing developments in the region and beyond.

 

Discussions underscored the commitment to strengthening Gulf parliamentary cooperation in accordance with the principles of the Gulf Parliamentary Framework.

 

Participants emphasised the importance of advancing parliamentary collaboration in line with the directives of GCC legislative council heads and supporting unified positions in regional and international parliamentary engagements to serve shared Gulf and broader Arab parliamentary interests.

 

The meeting also reviewed the agenda of the 37th Extraordinary Session of the APU Executive Committee and endorsed holding regular coordination meetings for the Gulf group on the sidelines of APU gatherings.
