FM: Russian companies invest about $19 billion in Iraq

Baghdad /NINA/ -Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced: "Russian companies invest about $19 billion in Iraq, and Russian oil companies have major activities in the Kurdistan Region."
The Foreign Minister said in a joint press conference with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsvelev in Baghdad: "Our relations with Russia are good in the field of oil and gas, and memoranda of understanding have been signed with Russia in the fields of energy, health, maritime transport and chambers of commerce."
He added: "Today we had an important meeting with the Iraqi-Russian Committee and discussed the political situation in the region."
For his part, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsvelev said: "We seek to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq, and we have signed important memoranda and agreements with Iraq."
He added that "today's meeting coincides with the 80th anniversary of relations between the two countries, and today we made the right decision on how to implement the agreements we signed during the past five years, and today we signed 5 new agreements and agreed to continue discussions in a virtual meeting to discuss the mechanisms for implementing those agreements."
He pointed out that "it was also agreed in principle to hold the committee meeting in Moscow during the month of April of next year. Every effort must be made to restore the ability to achieve gains for the benefit of our two peoples and to activate cooperation in all sectors." /End
