G8 leaders denounce Iran pres for negation of Holocaust.
L'AQUILA, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - The G8 leaders denounced Iranian
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the negation of the Holocaust and
called for observing nuclear non-proliferation, says the political
statement, adopted by the G8 heads of state and government.
The document runs that they expressed deep concern over possible
aftermaths of Iran's nuclear programme. Tehran has the right to the
existence of its programme for peaceful purposes, provided there is full
respect for and observance of responsibility for utterly peaceful nature
of activities in the nuclear sphere.
The world leaders remain committed to work on a diplomatic solution of
the problem of the Iranian nuclear programme with the participation of the
US, China, France, Germany and Britain as well as full involvement of
other G8 partners.
.Rosnano opens its project office in Perm.
PERM, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Nanotechnologies Corporation
(Rosnano) opens its project office in Perm. The territorial administration
reported that the office's main task is to initiate projects which can
claim support of the state corporation and to render aid in their
preparation.
It is not by chance that the Perm Territory was chosen as the place
for locating the Rosnano project office. The territory is the first to
start implementing the targeted programme on cooperation with the state
corporation, approved by Rosnano director-general Anatoly Chubais.
Rosnano managing director Alexander Kondrashov, 28, will be in charge
of its implementation. Last April, he was appointed adviser to Governor of
the Perm Territory Oleg Chirkunov for innovation activities.
Three or four staff members will work permanently at the office.
According to Kondrashov, "the project office will play an active role in
setting up seed and venture funds with Rosnano participation in the Perm
Territory. In future, the office will ensure a flow of projects also for
the funds. Besides, its stuff members will actively participate in
formulating a policy for state and territorial purchases so as to find in
it a place for innovation products.
The targeted programme is calculated till the end of 2010. Local
legislation, programmes of support for small businesses, the potential of
scientific and educational organisations and industrial enterprises will
be analysed at the first stage.
The Kondrashov team will work out programmes in various areas of
activities, including infrastructure, investment and cluster projects,
education and promotion of demand. It is also planned to set up a
regional industrial park, a pool of active projects in nonotechnologies
and selection of grounds for facilities of Rosnano investment projects.
.G8 worried over Iran nuclear problem & calls on DPRK to start talks.
L'AQUILA, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - The group of the eight industrialised
countries again confirmed its unanimous commitment to strive for a
comprehensive, peaceful and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear
problem.
At the same time, the G8 denounces the nuclear tests, staged by North
Korea last May, and a subsequent series of missile launches as well as
calls on Pyongyang to return to the six-party talks immediately and
without any preliminary conditions, says the final statement on
non-proliferation, adopted by the G8 summit in L'Aquila.
Besides, the document notes that the G8 is deeply worried over a
threat that terrorists may lay hands on weapons of mass destruction. In
this connection, the summiteers stated that they are waiting for
examination of an initiative, put forth earlier by US President Barack
Obama, aimed at ensuring security of all vulnerable nuclear materials in
the world.
In the meantime, the White House press service reported that Obama
announced at the Aquila meeting his plans to host a summit on global
nuclear security in Washington in March 2010.
The head of the Washington administration explained that from his
point of view, the coming meeting on nuclear security should discuss
problems of wiping out "the black market" of fissionable materials and
special equipment, tracking down their shipments and their interception by
law enforcement bodies.
The G8 leaders also voiced support for the earlier start of
international negotiations, aimed at drafting a Treaty on Banning the
Production of Fissile Materials and control measures over its
implementation.
The G8 acclaimed an intention of the Obama administration, on
reviewing Washington's previous position, to strive for ratification of
the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty by the US Senate and for putting
this international document into force. At the same time, the G8 leaders
called on all countries to preserve the moratorium on tests of nuclear
weapons and any other nuclear blasts.
