MOSCOW, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's position on the Japanese
parliament's decision on the Southern Kuriles remains unchanged - it is
unjustified exaggeration of territorial claims to Russia, Russian Foreign
Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said on Thursday.
"We have to state with regret that the Japanese partners have
neglected our call to thoroughly analyse the situation around the
bilateral dialogue on the peace treaty problem and to make the right
conclusions," the diplomat said. "We regard the forcing of unjustified
territorial claims to Russia as inappropriate, unacceptable and not
corresponding to the efforts to search for mutually acceptable solutions
on the issue of the conclusion of a peace treaty," he noted.
