Foreign Minister: Bahrain-Kyrgyz summit marks a pivotal step in advancing strategic and development partnership

Manama, Apr. 22 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pride, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the official visit by His Excellency President Sadyr Zhaparov of the Kyrgyz Republic. He described the visit as a historic milestone in the development of strong and growing relations and political and economic partnership between the two countries and peoples.
Dr. Al Zayani commended the outcomes of the Bahrain-Kyrgyz summit, which reflected the commitment of both leaderships and governments to strengthening their strategic partnership and expanding cooperation. He noted that several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed in the domains of economy, health, youth and sports, culture, legal, judicial and religious affairs, and air services. He also highlighted the continuation of political consultations between the two foreign ministries, following the success of the first round, which coincided with the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
He highlighted the government's keenness, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to deepen political cooperation and strengthen development partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic. This is based on shared values and common positions aimed at promoting regional and international peace and security, resolving conflicts through peaceful means, and advancing interfaith and intercultural dialogue. He also highlighted the active roles of both countries in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.
The minister expressed appreciation for the mutual support between the two countries regarding their candidacies for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council. He also acknowledged the Kyrgyz Republic’s positive stance on Bahrain’s pioneering initiatives, particularly its support for the proclamation of the International Day of Coexistence and Tolerance. He welcomed the Kingdom’s efforts in promoting tolerance, human fraternity, and Islamic unity, as well as its accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as a dialogue partner, and the two sides’ aspirations for constructive outcomes during the upcoming summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian countries in Samarkand.
Dr. Al Zayani noted that the Bahrain-Kyrgyz summit marked a qualitative shift in advancing political and economic partnership and bilateral cooperation in the domains of food security, renewable energy, and logistics. He noted the coordination between both sides in supporting regional integration at the Islamic and Asian levels, contributing to international peace and security and the achievement of sustainable development goals for the prosperity of all friendly peoples.
