Manama, Apr. 27 (BNA): Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, received Mary Tadros, Senior Manager of Development and Recognition at the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), and Dr. Kawther Saa'd Al Din, Manager of Development and Recognition at the Organisation.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) project in public schools under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, including preparations for launching the pilot phase in a selected group of intermediate and secondary schools in the near future.
The minister commended the IBO's cooperation with the Ministry in implementing this pioneering project, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain will be the first Gulf country to introduce the programme in public schools.
The initiative offers students the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognised qualification following advanced academic preparation for university studies, with a focus on languages, sciences, mathematics, arts, and social sciences, while also developing personal, social, and creative skills, and integrating curricula with real-world contexts.
On her part, Tadros expressed her appreciation for the cooperation between the IBO and the Ministry of Education, commending the progress of Bahrain’s education system and looking forward to the launch of the project’s first phase.
