FM: The Arab Situation Is " Very Regrettable," And Iraq Acted Realistically At The Baghdad Summit

Baghdad / NINA /- Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on Monday that the situation in a number of Arab countries, such as Lebanon, Libya, Syria, and the Gaza Strip, is " very regrettable," noting that Iraq adopted a realistic approach during its participation in the recent Arab Summit held in Baghdad.
Fuad Hussein explained during his participation in the Tehran International Dialogue Forum, "We dealt with the issues raised with realism and responsibility, because the crises our countries are experiencing require a practical solution, far from slogans."
The minister stressed that "regional stability cannot be achieved without addressing the protracted crises in these countries," noting that “Iraq seeks to bring viewpoints closer together and ease tensions, given its position as a pivotal state in the region.”
Regarding the Arab Summit in Baghdad, which concluded last Saturday, he said, "The participation of all Arab countries in Baghdad Summit is a 'diplomatic victory for Iraq,'" stressing that “this attendance reflects Iraq's return to its natural position as an active and influential state in the region.”
Hussein pointed out, "The Arab meeting in Baghdad was not merely a protocol event, but a true platform for joint Arab dialogue," adding, "Iraq played a pivotal role in preparing the atmosphere for this summit and bringing together the disparate parties under one roof."
The Foreign Minister also emphasized, "Iraq seeks to build new regional balances based on openness, understanding, and joint cooperation," emphasizing, "The current phase requires strengthening channels of dialogue to confront the collective challenges facing the region." /End
