Kingdom Hosts Regional Workshop to Boost Efforts to Protect Migratory Species

Riyadh, May 20, 2025, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the National Center for Wildlife, hosted a regional workshop aimed at activating joint action programs among member states of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and showcasing the Kingdom’s experience in regulating hunting activities.
The center leads these efforts as the official body responsible for the CMS in the Kingdom, spearheading the development and implementation of strategies to protect migratory species.
The workshop marks the official launch of an initiative to coordinate efforts and enhance regional cooperation to confront threats facing migratory birds and mitigate risks endangering the survival of species that pass through the region annually. It is part of a broader initiative led by the Kingdom following its receipt of the Champion Plus Award from the CMS Secretariat, in recognition of its leadership in addressing illegal hunting, capture, and trade of migratory species.
The initiative includes organizing events, raising public awareness, and sharing expertise across the region.
