Baghdad/NINA/ -The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Wednesday, the signing of an agreement with the People's Republic of China to unify efforts to promote integrity and follow up on the Commission's accession to Beijing's Clean Silk Road Initiative.
The Commission stated in a statement that it "discussed with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Iraq the procedures for the Commission's accession to the 'Beijing Clean Silk Road Initiative,' which focuses on providing a transparent and clean environment for the Silk Road and combating corruption, as it is the most dangerous factor that deters investment."
The head of the commission, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, emphasized the importance of relations between Iraq and China, describing them as "distinctive and strategic, reflecting the level of partnership between the two countries." He pointed to some aspects that the two parties are working to strengthen in the oversight aspect, including preventive and educational awareness. He explained that "working to build a social system that rejects corruption and is resentful of its perpetrators enhances the opportunities of oversight agencies to preserve public funds and curb the spread of corruption."
For his part, the Chinese ambassador called for unifying the efforts of anti-corruption agencies to promote the Belt and Road Initiative, which includes a commitment to the concepts of openness, green development, and integrity, and to participate in building a clean Silk Road based on Beijing's Silk Road Initiative. He praised the commission's work and efforts in prosecuting those who misappropriate public funds and promoting transparency in order to provide a favorable environment for investment. / End
