Baghdad And Tehran Sign A MoU To Enhance Cooperation In The Field Of Human Rights

Baghdad/NINA/-The Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the field of human rights between Baghdad and Tehran.
A statement from the ministry stated that "within the framework of joint efforts between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran to promote human rights concepts and exchange legal expertise, the Ministry of Justice and the Iranian Human Rights Commission signed an official memorandum of understanding aimed at developing mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in this vital field."
It added that "the memorandum stipulates strengthening technical and institutional cooperation between the two countries in the areas of human rights, developing capacities and building capabilities, and coordinating positions in relevant regional and international forums, which contributes to supporting human rights processes in both countries and strengthens both sides' commitments within national and international frameworks."
During the signing ceremony, the two sides emphasized "the importance of this step in light of common challenges," expressed "their aspiration for a strategic partnership based on understanding and the exchange of expertise, which will positively reflect on the development of the judicial and legal systems in both Iraq and Iran."
According to the statement, Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani stressed that "this agreement falls within the Iraqi government's efforts to enhance regional cooperation in the judicial, legal, and humanitarian fields."
The Iranian side, for its part, highlighted "the importance of building bridges of communication with neighboring countries, especially Iraq, within the framework of a comprehensive vision to promote stability, justice, and respect for human rights."
It stated that "the memorandum of understanding represents a balanced step that reflects the two countries' desire to work together, unify efforts to address challenges, and benefit from mutual expertise, thus enhancing the two countries' presence on the international stage in this vital issue."/End
