Saudi Red Crescent in Madinah Receives over 52,000 Calls, Responds to 14,000 Emergencies

Madinah, June 03, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Madinah Region revealed its operational statistics for the first phase of this year’s Hajj season, reflecting the scale of efforts dedicated to serving pilgrims and visitors of the Prophet’s Mosque.
Director-General of the authority's branch in Madinah Region Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani stated that the medical dispatch center received 52,126 calls, resulting in 14,306 emergency reports, all of which were handled promptly and professionally by the emergency teams.
He noted that a total of 7,636 patients were treated, with 4,455 transferred to hospitals for further care, while 3,181 received on-site emergency services without the need for transport.
As part of efforts to provide advanced and urgent care for critical cases, the cardiac catheterization pathway was activated for 39 patients, and the stroke care pathway for 38 cases, in coordination with relevant health authorities.
The efforts are part of the authority's operational plan for the Hajj season, focusing on enhancing field readiness, increasing emergency presence at key sites and pilgrims' routes, and utilizing rapid response teams and specialized transport to ensure the best urgent medical services for the pilgrims.
