Iran’s freestyle team wins U-20 Asian wrestling championship

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s freestyle wrestling team has clinched first place at the U-20 Asian Championship in Kyrgyzstan.

Iran’s freestyle wrestling team secured first place by earning seven medals, including four gold, two silver, and a bronze medal, at the U-20 Asian Championship.

Ebrahim Elahi (70 kg), Mohammad-Mehdi Mamivand (74 kg), Abolfazl Rahmani (86 kg), and Erfan Alizadeh (97 kg) each won gold medals.

Other Iranian wrestlers, Abolfazl Shamsipour (79 kg) and Tohid Nouri (92 kg), each received silver medals.

Additionally, Arshia Haddadi won a bronze medal in the 57 kg weight category.

The Islamic Republic of Iran claimed the team title with 179 points, surpassing India (157 points) and Kazakhstan (133 points).

The U-20 Asian Championship took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from July 12 to 13, 2025.
