Saudi Team Joins 66th International Mathematics Olympiad in Australia

Sunshine Coast, July 14, 2025, SPA -- The 66th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO, 2025) officially kicked off today on the Sunshine Coast, Australia, with the participation of the Saudi mathematics team alongside 600 students from 120 countries. The competition runs until July 20.
Established in 1959 in Romania, the IMO is the world's most prestigious mathematics competition for high school students. It serves as a global platform that draws the attention of leading universities due to the participants' exceptional skills in areas such as logical reasoning, probability theory, statistics, and complex problem-solving.
Saudi Arabia has been participating in the Olympiad since 2004 and, over the course of 20 previous appearances, has earned 12 silver medals, 45 bronze medals, and 19 certificates of appreciation.
This year, the Kingdom is represented by a team of six students, who have undergone hundreds of hours of intensive training under the supervision of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education.
