Thousands of Iranian Pilgrims Arrive Through Al-Shalamcheh Border Crossing en Route to Karbala for Arbaeen Pilgrimage

Basra / NINA /-Al-Shalamcheh border crossing in Basra Governorate has witnessed a large influx of pilgrims arriving from the Islamic Republic of Iran, heading toward the holy city of Karbala to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). 

The Deputy Governor of Basra for Administrative Affairs, Maher Ibrahim Al-Amiri, visited the border crossing accompanied by the Head of the Security Committee in the Provincial Council, Aqeel Al-Furaiji, to monitor the service and security arrangements during the peak of pilgrim arrivals. 

Al-Amiri stated that the visit aimed to assess the level of services provided at the crossing, which currently receives more than 5,000 pilgrims daily. He noted that the governorate’s staff continues to offer various types of support and services to the visitors. For his part, Al-Furaiji emphasized that security forces have intensified their efforts to ensure the safety of the pilgrims traveling from al-Shalamcheh crossing to Karbala. This is being done in coordination with security commands in the central and southern provinces to guarantee smooth movement and the safety of all participants in the pilgrimage. /End
