President Pezeshkian leaves Tehran for Pakistan

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian left Tehran for Pakistan on Saturday morning for a two-day trip at the official invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Leading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, President Pezeshkian was seen off by his First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, Head of international relations at the office of the Supreme Leader Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qomi, as well as several government officials.

The Iranian president is scheduled to visit Lahore, where he will pay his respects at the tomb of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, a prominent poet and scholar of the Islamic world, before continuing to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

On the second day of his trip, after an official welcome ceremony, Pezeshkian will hold meetings with the prime minister, president, and the heads of the National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan.

Iran’s ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri-Moghaddam said that during this visit, several important cooperation documents related to economic, trade, transportation, cultural exchanges, customs, standards, border cooperation, and tourism will be signed by officials from both countries.
